Wyre Forest CRC was founded in 1977 and quickly established itself with a core of enthusiastic members, becoming active both socially and on the local road racing and time trial scene. We soon became known as ‘the friendly club’ due to the welcome new and prospective members were shown; an attitude that has remained to the current day.
Now, 40 years later, we have grown to become one of the most diverse and successful cycling clubs in the country, with a strong youth and female membership. Recent years have seen us achieve Go-Ride status and also achieve the prestigious Club Mark status through British Cycling. In 2010 a new purpose built 1.6km tarmac cycling circuit was constructed at Stourport Sports Club (SSC). The circuit was further enhanced with the addition of floodlighting in 2014.
Wyre Forest CRC is based at Stourport Sports Club and is the home club of the Stourport Cycle Circuit, giving access to the superb new clubhouse facilities in addition to free priority time on the circuit for club members. Although we are based in Stourport, our members are spread over Worcestershire, from Pershore, through Worcester up to Bridgnorth and Birmingham.
We are not just a racing club; many of our members never race or ride competitively, but enjoy club runs, training rides, many social evenings and just being out on the bike with friends that they have made through the club.
Club members receive a huge range of benefits including free coaching by British Cycling coaches, discounts at local bike shops, discounts on training DVD’s, reduced club TT entry fees, training rides, club runs, Go-Ride youth coaching, velodrome trips, casual clothing, Endura club kit, etc.
Our club meets every Tuesday night at 8pm at Stourport Sports Club,

2017 Weekly Activities
Sunday: We have our established Club Runs, all meet at SSC at 9.30am. The A group is a non-stop brisk ride for experienced riders getting in some quality base training miles; the B group is a more social and steady ride that explores the lanes and countryside of Worcestershire and neighbouring counties, with an obligatory café stop around mid way, distance typically around 50mls; the C group (Easyriders) is a gentle introductory ride over a couple of hours, ideal for youth, junior, newcomers and the less fit. Members aged from mid teens to late 60’s frequent the Wyre Forest club runs and of course, in the B and C groups no-one is left behind. While there are usually club members who are at SSC for the club run on a Sunday, the active club discussion forum is a great place to see who is out.
Tuesday: During the evening we hold our club night in the lounge area at SSC, from around 8.00pm – a time to socialise, chat and relax, and to welcome new cyclists and potential members. In the summer this also coincides with the Stourport Circuit Summer Race Series.
Wednesday: From April to August we put on an evening Club time trial, currently using a mix of 4 different courses. Riders start at 1 minute intervals and are timed over the course, typically 10 miles to 14 miles, riding at their own pace. Members share marshalling duties during the year at these events and first man off is always at 7.00pm. This time trial series makes an annual club championship with trophies and prizes awarded at the end of the season for a variety of categories.
Thursday: High quality British Cycling coaching on the Stourport Circuit runs from October to March. Free for WFCRC club members. Arrive at 18:45 for 19:00 start, runs to 21:00.
Friday: Youth, Junior & Senior coaching. Many younger riders both members and non members, attend these extremely popular, well established Go-Ride sessions which are run on the floodlit circuit by our qualified coaches during the summer months between 18.00 and 19.00 for the youngest youth E riders, then 19.00 and 20.00 for youth A,B, C and D riders. This is also followed by Senior novice coaching on the circuit between 20:00 and 21:00
Saturday: The club has training rides with a mix of ‘on the circuit’ or ‘on the road’ sessions during the winter period. There are also training rides that leave from the 'Southern Division' area around Pershore and Worcester.
Club Wk/end: In the autumn we have an organised wk/end away, most members will ride together to wherever the venue is, others may travel by car. The aim is to have a social break at the end of the summer racing season, with a club run style ride on the Saturday, and return by a different route on the Sunday. The format varies each year and details are posted on the website and discussed on club night.
Annual Club Dinner and Prize Presentation: Our main social event, usually held around November. This great event is a proper bash where riders and family members, and guests, can get together to celebrate the year and the club riding season. Trophies for the clubs racing members are also presented at this annual gala.
